Largest WAMS Deployment
EPG Selected for World's Largest WAMS Deployment for GETCO
Electric Power Group (EPG) is pleased to share that it has been selected to supply GETCO in India with the world’s largest WAMS deployment. When completed in 2022, the system will be capable of receiving data from a record 1,650 PMUs at 50 samples per second. Key highlights include:
1. Partnership with Hitachi – ABB Power Grids (HAPG); EPG will be the sole supplier of the WAMS solution and HAPG will supply the PMUs and associated infrastructure.
2. Integrated and unified WAMS display with SCADA/EMS for enhanced situational awareness, real-time calculations and actionable intelligence for operators.
3. One-line diagrams with EMS/SCADA and PMU data.
4. Global monitoring of the WAMS IT infrastructure.
Gridsmarts ReportsNYISO tracks PMU performance with GridSmarts Reports
NYISO manages and tracks PMU performance through monthly reports from GridSmarts. Report includes overall PMU performance as well as breakdown of bad data for each PMU by error for use in data management business process.
Generator Model Validation (GMV)EPG Deploys Automated Generator Model Validation for PJM
With EPG's GMV, PJM can perform the required model validation using PMU data without having to take generator units offline. The model validation process is fully automated, performed in near-real time, and is triggered when events and system disturbances are detected to ensure models are accurate for real-time assessments.
eLSEPeak RC improves line impedance in its network model using EPG’s eLSE
The eLSE was used to identify and remediate faulty impedance values in their network model - used for traditional state estimation and contingency analysis. Peak RC is also using the eLSE for enhanced visibility beyond available PMUs; data conditioning and network model validation.
Oscillation DetectionPJM validates Oscillation Detection and Mode Meter Applications with
Extensive Testing
The validation process was conducted using simulations, case studies, disturbance data, over a 6-month period. The testing has validated the algorithms used for oscillation detection and monitoring. PJM is now using the test results to develop operating guidelines.
